What is Emergency Clipboard?
Emergency Clipboard is a FREE website used to create, manage and distribute emergency checklists. When used properly it greatly reduces human error during times of crisis.
Emergency Clipboard was designed to mimic the preparedness guidelines set forth by FEMA under NIMS (National Incident Management System) standards. Per the NIMS website: preparedness is achieved and maintained through a continuous cycle of planning, organizing, training, equipping, exercising, evaluating, and taking corrective action. Ongoing preparedness efforts among all those involved in emergency management and incident response activities ensure coordination during times of crisis. Moreover, preparedness facilitates efficient and effective emergency management and incident response activities. Use the images below to identify similarities between NIMS and Emergency Clipboard procedures:
How can something free be effective?
Emergency Clipboard is simply a tool to create, manage and distribute checklists. It is only through the constant refinement of your checklist(s) that the tool becomes effective. Refinement comes by testing your checklists and assessing results. Thus, it’s the preparedness cycle shown above that makes Emergency Clipboard so powerful.
